Women's tennis will be able to sleep-in next season and avoid 5:30 a.m. practices in Tualatin because the new tennis courts will be built over the summer. The courts will be built on what is currently Tom Reyolds Field.

There will be six courts built with lights and weather permitting the goal is to start construction this summer so that they will be ready in the fall. At the very latest they will be finished in time for the spring 2009 season.

Earlier ideas of having a "bubble" placed over the courts to allow for matches to be played during bad weather are no longer in the building plans, as the university did not find them to be attractive. Ken Schumann, director of athletics, felt that they would not fit with the look of the university.

Three of the six courts will have roof-like covers built over them that will help to protect the courts from light rain, and windscreens will be placed around the sides of those courts.
