The last time the women's golf team qualified for a national tournament was in 1997, when they advanced to the NAIA National Tournament after capturing the NWC title.
Tami Park finished third overall in the NWC championships, held at the Aspen Lakes Golf Course on April 19 and 20. She shot a two-day score of 167 for the best score on Pacific's squad.
Jasmine Ching finished in sixth place with a score of 172. Last year, Ching placed fifth as a freshman.
Both Park and Ching earned All-NWC honors for their scores in the tournament.
Two other Boxer golfers finished in the top ten. Kelly Hartley capped her senior season by shooting a season-high 93 on the first day, and followed it with her second lowest score, of the season, 82. Her two-day total of 175 was good enough for seventh place in the tournament.
Leanna Nash finished in a four-way tie for eighth place, one stroke behind Hartley, with a 176.
In the process of winning the tournament, Richard Warren, head coach, was named NWC coach of the year.
In 14 tournaments this year, the women have won 12 of them outright. They finished in third out of four teams in the George Fox Five-Way in October, and they finished second out of four teams in the Tacoma Invitational in April.
The national championships will be held over a period of four days. From May 13-16, the Boxers will compete against other conference champions from around the country at the Centennial Oaks Golf Course in Waverly, Iowa.
