This week in Pacific history…..

Digging through old issues of The Pacific Index you'd be surprised what you'll find. Here's a story we found from April, 1994 involving the Alpha Zeta fraternity.

From an article in The Pacific Index April 22, 1994

The AZ fraternity was facing charges brought upon them by the Peer Review Board regarding open containers of alcohol at an event on campus that the fraternity hosted on February 4 of that year. While the PRB dismissed charges that the fraternity violated the student code of conduct, the AZ fraternity was placed on probationary warning status by the Inter-Greek Council, which would be in effect until the end of the following fall semester.

The article reads, in part:

"In response to this concern, Meg O'Hara, vice president of student affairs, said, 'A dismissal in this matter does not mean that the issue never should have been initiated.' She said it was an irrefutable fact that there were alcohol policy violations going on at the dance."
