Tuition increase in your email

Everyone received an e-mail recently from none other than Phil Creighton stating that tuition will be increasing next year as part of the natural order of things. When was the last time your got an e-mail from the president any way? That question aside, the increase does seem reasonable, especially since it's really only a couple more thousand dollars a year, and it's directly paying for our education.

Your votes pay for their tuition

At last Monday's open Pacific University Community Council, advisor Steve Klein motioned to raise the wage of executive officers from $9 to $10 an hour. He explained that since the wage has not been raised for the past three years that the increase may create more competition for the positions.

Letter to the Editor

Boxer was stolen

This letter is a response to the Index's March 14th unsigned opinion article, "Boxer stolen - are you sure?" that is listed as the opinion of the entire Editorial Board. I'm not angered by the question the article raises, even though it questions the possibility that my fraternity and I are lying about Boxer's whereabouts.

Questions roused after attending "Busted"

On Thursday, March 20th, Pacific's Pre-law club hosted a presentation they called "Know Your Rights." It included a presentation of American Civil Liberties Union's short film "Busted" and a question and answer session with a retired police chief, an acting police chief, and a judge from Washington County.

Dear athletic department, Kudos to you for naming our new baseball and softball fields in honor of deserving individuals. There is a disturbing, growing trend in the hyper competitive business world today where sports venues have names such as Safeco Field or the Pepsi Center.
