Rather than crowd the kitchen, they've asked underclassmen to take care of preparatory work, like advertising.
Flyers for the soup kitchen have gone up everywhere, from bottle return stops, to churches, to every bus stop from her to Cornelius.
Their next meal will consist of beef stew and biscuits, and will be on March 16. They are hoping to start serving at 2:30 p.m., like they have been.
"Our soup kitchen is not just for homeless or low income […] you could be a student here, and if you're hungry, you can go over and get a bowl of stew or something," according to LaMonica.
As far as donations, she said "We're trying to get donations from Safeway, but we're still in the early process of that. We have a budget between the two clubs [Anthro/Soc and Circle K], but it's not infinite."
Anderson said, "Sometimes we get stuff from other places, like a professor who gave a turkey. We're also asking B-St. [farm] for stuff like salad."
Anderson also said, "A lot of people want to help with serving, but we need help with mostly flyers and just getting it going, since it's the first time we've ever done it, and so I won't see it as a success unless it keeps going when Dana and I are gone."
If anyone wants to help in any way, especially advertising and donations, please Contact either Caitey Anderson or Dana LaMonica.
"It's really nice to come together with so many different clubs to do this […] social work, progressive union, PCF. It's really about bringing the community together. We couldn't do this without them and […] the community, like the UCC, to build something that Forest Grove has never had before. If 25 are coming on a monthly basis, then it's something the community needs."
