Dismal season ends for women; men finish in four-way tie for third

Garold Howe of the men's basketball team was named to the All-NWC First Team and Amy Pederson of the women's squad was named to the All-NWC Second Team for the 2007-2008.
This is Pederson's second year in row earning an all-conference honor.
In her senior season, Pederson led the Boxers with 14.7 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game.
She was second on the team with a .431 field goal percentage, first with 1.7 three-pointers made and tied for the conference lead with nine double-doubles.
Pederson was one of the few bright spots for the Boxers this year. They finished 3-13 in the NWC, tied for last, and posted a 4-20 overall record.
After winning their conference opener against Lewis & Clark 75-70, they lost their next ten in a row. They broke their lengthy losing streak over a month later at home against Whitworth.
Howe, a junior transfer from Chemeketa Community College, is the first men's basketball played to be selected to the All-NWC Team since Connelly Eseman was picked in the 1999-2000 season.
He led the team with 17.2 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Most fans shouldn't be surprised by this stat: Howe was fourth in the conference in three-point shooting percentage.
Pacific was in competition for a playoff spot until they lost to Linfield on the road 95-72. They still finished in third place, and the top three teams make the NCAA Division III tournament, but the three teams that Pacific tied owned tie-breakers over the Boxers.
Next year, the men will be without three seniors that made significant contributions this season. Donnie Harrison-Davis, Joe Van Domelen and Ryan Turcott played their final season in Boxer uniforms.
Harrison-Davis led the team with 30.8 minutes per game and finished the year with a 40 percent three-point percentage.
Van Domelen was second on the team with a .512 field goal percentage and 14.6 points per game.
Turcott was second on the squad with 2.3 assists per game.
Pederson and Krystina Stevens will be the only Boxers absent next season.
Stevens led the team with 33.9 minutes per game, 3.1 offensive rebounds per game and 1.3 steals per game.
