Handball finishes seventh in nation

"It's amazing how he can keep it all together," said Komo.
"We wouldn't have this program without him," said Costley. "He prepares us so well."
Despite the added preoccupations, Steele handled himself well, even embracing the challenge of facing much larger schools such as first-place finishers Missouri St. and third-place Texas A&M.
In fact, Pacific's Aaron Garner blasted Texas A&M's top player, Marshall Lowy, in the second round of the Open division bracket 21-5, 21-6. That victory was the headliner of several victories by Pacific players over the larger schools.
"I love taking our school into the mouth of the lion and coming out unscathed," said Steele.
Although the national tournament is over, it does not mean season's end for handball. Steele and the rest of the team now look to enter smaller regional tournaments, with the next major tournament being the Oregon State Doubles Tournament in Corvallis at the end of March, and hosting an all-women's tournament at Pacific.
In the meantime, Steele faces an important season of recruitment and training. He also plans to add handball as an intramural sport for all students.
