Boxer will be handed over to the winner of a contest on knowledge of our beloved statue and its history on March 12 in the University Center. We've come a long way from the old days of the Boxer Toss. Getting the Boxer used to be about beating the crud out of your fellow students in order to get that prized statue.
So where is your tuition money going anyway? We hear rumblings that students don't like the fact that their money is going towards expensive dorms. Well, your money isn't going there. Students are perplexed that we are building a multi-million dollar athletic complex with the university's newfound cash.
I have noticed around campus, and on Facebook, that there seems to be a need (or a want) for what's termed as "Equal Boxer Access." I would like to state no offense to whoever thought of this idea, but it is stupid. The whole entire point of Boxer isn't to "give equal access" to whomever wants it that day.
I have been told time and time again that the baseball and softball fields currently under construction at Lincoln Park will be the best in our conference. Now that I've walked out on those fields, I seriously doubt those claims. Just to be clear, I am so thankful that the old Bond field, with its head-size potholes, is being replaced.
