Playing without a home court
Unusual practice times, young rosters leave many unknowns for the 2008 season

There is a flip side to their situation. The positive side of their unorthodox routine is that the teams can get more time in on the court because they don't have to worry about the weather.
"The benefit is they are getting a lot more hitting in," Gary said of her squad. "Their games have improved from all the practices we are having that we weren't able to conduct in the past with the outdoor courts."
Only a temporary situation
However, the teams are playing this year with the knowledge that new courts are on the way as soon as next tennis season.
According to Ken Schumann, director of athletics, the new home of Pacific tennis will be on the east end of Tom Reynolds Field.
There will be six courts in total. Three of the courts will be covered by a forty-foot tall roof to accommodate the teams during bad weather.
This will be an improvement from the previous site of Boxer home tennis matches. Before they were demolished, there were four courts on the west side of Vandervelden Court.
One of the courts was in such bad shape that matches weren't even played there last season.
Schumann said that the courts are scheduled to be ready for the 2009 season.
Until then, the tennis teams are making due with what they have.
"If I had the option of keeping our old courts and playing here, I would have chosen to travel like we are now and wait for new courts," said Jackson.
