After 20 years, the logo of Pacific athletics is being tossed aside in favor for a newer, modern logo that is yet to be determined. The reason for the change stems from a Student Athletic Advisory Meeting held last year. "We had a SAAC meeting last year and we asked the students what first came to mind when they saw the logo," said Blake Timm, sports information director.
Some say it takes decades to build a legacy, but what if it took less? What if it took only five years? Although retiring Pacific University volleyball coach Chris Stanley might be too humble to admit, he will without a doubt be leaving Pacific with just as much of a legacy than any coach preceding him, despite his short tenure.
Every morning during the week, 11 women's tennis players bundle up and wait for a bus in front of the Pacific Athletic Center at 5:00 a.m. Their practice slot is from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Each night, the seven men's players get picked up at 8 p.m and get on the bus for their 9 p.
The tennis teams aren't the only squads waiting on new facilities. The baseball and softball teams are waiting on the completion of their new fields at the Lincoln Park Athletic Complex. When the university broke ground on their new multi-million dollar project, it was estimated that the fields would be ready by Feb.
Dear NCAA, There is a poster in the locker room at my university that reads, "Be Loud. Be Proud. Be Positive." The slogan is sponsored by your organization and is apparently intended to encourage fans to be boisterous, but to refrain from directing their excitement at the other team.
