Mug shots: Most undesirable beer in Oregon

Abstract:
"Hey Mark, look what I got," My big brother said as he proudly produced from his pocket a bottle labeled Ruedrich's Red Seal Ale. My 12-year-old self greedily asked, "Is that beer?" My brother nodded reverently. I held the wonderful beer in my hands and could immediately tell that something was wrong....

Mark, your article is kind of cute and I am sure your journalism career will exceed Walter Cronkites! Problem is you obviously have a bad palate and clearly are not qualified to write about beer. Red Seal is one of the premier Pale ales in the world and if you go to ratebeer.com where truly knowledgeable beer writers and critics rate beers you will find this out. You have done a serious injustice to both the brewery and and anyone who read your horrible critique of this great beer. People read these things and will not buy something that gets trashed like you trashed it. I do not work for the brewery but am in the beer business and do not like it when amateurs try to pontificate and judge beer especially to make their article kind of cute. Stick to drinking PBR mark, it is obviously your swill of choice.

Settle down, chief. Everything will be alright, even if a college student isn't the biggest fan of Red Seal. Why are you cruising college newspaper Web sites for beer reviews anyway? Think about it. Hardly any of the students who read this would have even heard about Red Seal, let alone buy the stuff--which is probably overpriced to begin with anyway. I wouldn't worry too much about the main demographic the Index caters to. You'll find more "qualified" patrons of this craft beer elsewhere, rather than a campus of a private, liberal arts college. I understand that the brewing business is sort of a brotherhood, in a sense that everyone looks out for each other, but pick your battles. He's a college kid trying out different styles of writing, and further more, it's his opinion. Some people like Red Seal, and some people don't. Get off his back. Quit trying to run a public relations campaign if you aren't part of the brewery. They don't need your help. Good day, sir.

I think that Red Seal doesn`t taste to author like the true beer. But maybe someone like it. It it the quastion of taste.
