When I was fifteen, I had occasion to ask my uncle, an avid hunter, why he had a huge crate of deer antlers on his front porch. His reply was simple, "They were not worthy."

That's the way I feel about a lot of beers. Many mass-produced beers are not worth the drinkers' time (much less the reviewers').

The acknowledgment of women's roles throughout history had been sparse at the start, starting with a "Women History Week" in 1978, sponsored by the Education Task Force in Sonoma County, Calif.

Did you watch the Oscars?

Probably not.

And nobody could blame you. After all, the Oscars as of late have seemed to become increasingly less about recognizing excellence in film, and more about admiring the elegant aristocracy of today's celebrities. The event has become hardly as much of a celebration of film as it is a one, big ego stroke for A-list starts.

The other day, while I was wandering through the grocery store gawking at all the food I couldn't afford, I was startled by not one, but three of those doushey Bluetooth headset users. Is there anything more annoying!? There I was, minding my own business, contemplating whether to get blueberry or cinnamon-raisin bagels, when Johnny McChatterbox comes around the corner yapping up a storm and makes me think for a second he's talking to me.

After approximately seven months of actively serving as President Phil Creighton's successor, Lesley Hallick was officially instated as Pacific University's 17th president on March 4, 2010.

To those who were used to President Creighton's near-constant presence on campus, it's been almost easy to forget that we had a president until the hustle and bustle surrounding inauguration day.
